To the Science Scouts who helped out with us on our 10th Anniversary Carnival, THANK YOU! All of you were awesome!

It was a long busy day and even though there were some playful moments, as a team, all of you did really well, especially for your first time facilitating! Your interaction with the public was both clear and warm. Your program facilitation was efficient and fun. And although most of you were so tired, you persevered and pulled through.

We will be preparing your Certificates of Participation and will be sending badges based on what we have observed. A few Science Scouts in particular performed as if they've been doing it for years! It exceeded our expectations! Be sure you update us if your postal address has changed.

Important Announcement for Team Carnival!

To the Science Scouts who will be facilitating this Saturday, here are some important announcements.

Those in Slot A and Slot C, drop-off will be near our Gift Shop entrance. We are expecting a big crowd so we can't put up our tables as usual. Registration will be from 9:45am - 10:00am.

Those in Slot A and Slot B, pick-up and drop-off will be at the same place but at 1:45pm - 2:00pm.

Those in Slot B and Slot C, drop-off will be at the same place at 6:00pm - 6:15pm.

Please do be on time! And don't forget your jackets and your badges!

Bring a bottle of water if you're not a fan of our water cooler! Otherwise, we provide the following meals:

Slot A - Breakfast and lunch
Slot B - Lunch and dinner
Slot C - Breakfast, lunch and dinner

The Petrosains 10th Anniversary Carnival!

We’re pleased to share with you that this Saturday, 28^th March 2009 – we will be celebrating our 10^th Anniversary with a Carnival!

It is a ONE day event with FREE admission for the public! Expect a carnival-like atmosphere comprising special science shows/workshops and programmes by Petrosains, door gifts, giveaways for participation, clowns, balloons and many more! Yes, the admission is FREE not only for the Mainstream but also for DinoTrek 2!

* Admission is on a first-come-first-served basis and passes are to be collected at Petrosains.

Response have been great from Troops 1 and 2 and we're sorry but all slots are filled up (except one)!

A (7 pax): 10am – 2pm - 1 space left (Kye Lii, Wei Yin, Shaz, Jer Yeu, Pavithiran, Darshwini)
B (7 pax): 2pm – 6pm - FULL (Jazlynn, Haikal, Arman, Ummeesh, Adam Nadzri, Jenna, Zharif)

Remember, if you are unable to facilitate because the slots are filled up, that there will be other opportunities in the future so always check this site! Also, you are always welcome to come as a participant! We will be in SS3 which is the small room opposite our regular room.

• This is an energiser activity to foster team cohesiveness and to encourage teamwork and cooperation.

- Dinotrek Adventure:

• Science Scouts had a special visit to the newly opened exhibition, Dinotrek 2! They had the opportunity to learned about dinosaurs and interact with engaging experiences such as games, shows, and group activities.

- Dinosaur Transformation:

• The Science Scouts then had to transform one of their friends into a dinosaur, based on the anatomical details they have learned on various dinosaurs while visiting Dinotrek 2. Using only newspapers and masking tape, they turned a Science Scout into a walking, breathing creature of the past!

Get Down and Dirty With Us as We Celebrate 10 Years of Wonder!

Special invitation for Science Scouts in Troops 1 and 2.

On the 28th of March, Petrosains will be celebrating our 10th year anniversary. We will have many events and activities lined up and we will like to invite YOU! (as a senior Science Scout) to come and join us as a FACILITATOR!

Team Science Scouts will be running two activities and we want this to be a place ‘by kids, for kids’ so we are letting you be in charge. The activities are:

1. Light painting



2. Glass portrait drawing

You can choose one of the following slots:

A: 10am – 2pm
B: 2pm – 6pm
C: 10am – 6pm

We are looking for only 5 Science Scouts per slot! All meals are provided for and we’ll reward participation with badges, a gift and a certificate!

All Troops Meeting #1: A Prehistoric Adventure!

March 21 is our first ALL TROOPS meeting for 2009! This means that in addition to Troop 3 (the current active troop) we are also inviting Science Scouts from Troops 1 and 2 to join us!

We will be having a prehistoric adventure at the new Dinotrek 2 exhibition at Petrosains followed by a series of challenges with wonderful prizes for winners! As with all other Science Scouts meetings, the first ALL TROOPS session will be from 10am - 1pm.

For Science Scouts in Troops 1 and 2:

• Let us know if you are coming! Send an email to Daniel at danielloy@petronas.com.my or give us a call! I'm sure you have our numbers.
  
• Be sure to wear your jacket and bring your membership card if you do come!

For Science Scouts in Troop 3:

• Same routine as our first meeting! We're expecting you!
  

Troop 3: Meeting 1

• This is an energiser activity to foster team cohesiveness and to encourage teamwork and cooperation.

- Centre Tour:

• Troop 3 had a tour of Petrosains! This walk through is for the new participants to familiarise themselves with the centre. The troop was divided into three groups and each group was led by a facilitator for a personalised and detailed tour.

- Thunder Machine:

• Troop 3 had an exciting first activity; building their own thunder machine! Using simple everyday materials such as a chips tube and spring, the Science Scouts made a booming sound machine.

Troop 3 starts March 7!

An announcement to Troop 3 Science Scouts, we are getting the ball rolling this Saturday, March 7!

Registration opens 9:30am at the Petrosains lobby, 4th floor Suria KLCC. What to bring? Nothing really except perhaps a bottle of water and a small bag. Do dress comfortably!

If you're early, do be patient as doors open only at 9:30am. We finish by 1pm so parents and guardians can sign you out from around 1:10pm onwards.
