Troop Leaders: Qila, Azni, Ash, Ain, Daniel, Yati

Senior Science Scouts: Azhary, Khavishini, Darshwini, Zharif, Syaz, Desmond

The Big Day is back, an annual festival-themed meeting open to ALL TROOPS. This year, the theme was "Think", with puzzles, challenges, and brain-teasers galore.

1. Balancing Acts - Science Scouts are challenged to balance a weighted rod with a finger, keep the lunasticks in the air, and build a precarious tower of wooden blocks.

2. No-Brainer - Science Scouts attempt to outwit the game of quick-thinking with fast and accurate nods and shakes of the head.

3. Mental Madness - Science Scouts attempt to solve a series of difficult puzzles with the solutions mostly derived from a combination of science and dexterity.

4. Egg-Drop Engineer - Build a parachute and basket system to ensure an egg survives a 2-storey drop!

5. Clue-Clip Challenge - A series of logical puzzles using colourful paper clips are presented with increasing difficulty.

6. Time-Out Torture - Science Scouts who need a break can try out some of the board games available with their friends.

Coming Soon!

July Challenge Winners!

Liyana and Adam did an amazing job for the July Challenge. Here are their badge-winning submissions!

1. Liyana's Monster Mania

Liyana said:
"In this game, players have to shoot at the toys with a ball. The goal is to knock down the monsters. However, the monsters are attached to the base with rubber bands which allows them to spring back up again. This game is challenging and fun and you can pit your throwing accuracy against your friends and families and together, conquer Monster Mania!".

The Troop Leaders said:
"Nice solid build with good use of old toys. Game is playable although it is quite hard to knock down the monsters! The use of the trains as a base is interesting."

2. Adam's Gloria's Pull-Along Animal Toss-A-Ring

Adam said:
"It's a cool toy! Kids would love to pull along the animal caravan led by 'sexy' gloria. Kids are challenged to toss rings at the three animals in the caravan, the kangaroon, dolphin and cat. Points are awarded for a good toss and points are deducted if it hits Gloria instead. To make it even more challenging, toss while a friend pulls the caravan along!"

The Troop Leaders said:
"Inventive use of old toys! The wheels are particularly creative, with a coaster on the front and bottle cap wheels at the back. A lot of effort has gone into the decoration with the inside of the caravan filled up as well as the use of other knick knacks such as fighter jets."

August updates

First up, congratulations to Liyana and Adam for doing a great job with the July challenge! I'll put up photos of their efforts soon.

For August, the challenge is to come up with a poster with the theme "Science and Malaysia". Think about how science is used in many different ways by many different Malaysians in many different parts of the country! As always, be creative, be fun, but communicate your message clearly.

This Saturday!

A favourite Science Scouts activity is back :)
