Treasure Hunt in Petrosains!
It's our first Petrosains Science Scouts ALL TROOP Meeting for the year! The Troop Leaders had a blast welcoming back Science Scouts from Troops 1, 2, and 3. We missed you guys!
In this meeting, we divided the combined Troops into 8 groups and armed each one with a puzzle sheet. Groups need to decipher the puzzles in order to obtain the clues! Each clue leads to a word or phrase that the groups can find from exhibit panels or signs in Petrosains.
The challenge was definitely difficult but all groups did well! Congratulations to the groups who earned a badge.

All Troop Meeting on March 27!
The next Petrosains Science Scouts meeting will be on March 27, same time, same place! It is also the first of five ALL TROOP Meetings! This means that other than Troop 4, we'll also be welcoming Science Scouts from Troops 1, 2, and 3 to join in.
For those who are in Troop 4, your Troop Leaders look forward to meeting you again and getting to know everyone better!
For those who are in Troops 1, 2, and 3, please RSVP your attendance. This means let us know if you're coming! Drop a note (via email, blog, or FB) to let us know.
We have a special slate of activities lined up. Here's a hint!

Troop 4: Meeting 1

The Petrosains Science Scouts warmly welcome Troop 4! We're glad to have you on board and we hope you had a fun and educational first meeting with your Troop Leaders, Senior Science Scouts, and Facilitators!
1. Walk-a-bout
Troop 4 went for a quick walk through of Petrosains! Some of them took the opportunity to view the infinity mirror.
2. Group Games
Our guest facilitator Ayu kick-started the meeting with two group games!
The first was a spin the ball challenge followed by a energized game of Bingo Lingo!
3. Ping Pong Gun
The main activity of the day required Troop 4 to build their own Ping Pong Gun using everyday materials. Once the gun is built, every one is then challenged to launch their ping pong balls into the baskets!
Troop 4 had help from the Troop Leaders and the Senior Science Scouts in building the gun.
Building the Ping Pong Gun is not as easy as it looks!
Hands-on science that engages and educates is a hallmark of the Petrosains approach to learning.
Troop 4 and their completed guns gave quite a show while trying to get the ping pong balls into the baskets!

Troop 4 Kicks Off This Saturday!
We're days away to starting our FOURTH Troop of the Petrosains Science Scouts this Saturday, March 13! The Troop Leaders, Ash, Ain, Yati and myself (Daniel) are looking forward to welcoming our 23 new members and 4 continuing members.
This year, the Petrosains Science Scouts will also kick start the Petrosains Senior Science Scouts! We will be welcoming 7 Seniors from Troops 1 and 2 who will now play the role of co-facilitator. Troop 4 can meet their program seniors who will be assisting the Troop Leaders this Saturday.
With 18 brand new meetings scheduled and an explosive Jamboree at the end of the year, Petrosains Science Scouts of ALL TROOPS can look forward to another year of fun science, great friends, and lots of exciting learning.
A Reminder for Troop 4
Here's what you need to prepare for your first meeting this Saturday.
1. Check-in time is from 9:30am - 10:00am. The doors to our lobby opens at 9:25am so if you're early, don't worry! We will open, just give us a few minutes. Your Troop Leaders and Senior Science Scouts will man a registration table. Your parents/guardians need to sign you in (and this applies for every meeting).
2. Check-out time is from 1:15pm - 1:30pm. Parents and guardians can wait at the lobby and the Troop Leaders will lead the Science Scouts out. We need parents/guardians to sign you out before we let you go! Otherwise you'll be spending some time waiting with us (though we hope for not too long).
3. For the first meeting, payments should be made for the program. For new members, the fee is RM250 while for continuing members, the fee is RM200. Payment can be made in cash at our registration counter, or via credit card at our gift shop. Please note however that our gift shop only opens at 10am so payments by credit card can be made only when the gift shop opens.
4. We will be issuing your Science Scouts jackets on the first meeting so you don't need to bring any other jackets! It can get cold in the centre though so if you're worried about freezing, do wear pants, not shorts! We will usually issue jackets that are a little loose and baggy because you'll grow into them soon enough. If you feel the size is inappropriate, you can change them at the 2nd meeting. No more changes will be allowed after that.
5. We provide a snack at around 11:30am. Do be sure to have your breakfast before hand. There's also a water cooler if you don't want to bring your own water bottle.
6. We'll provide all Science Scouts with a starter kit on the first meeting which will have among other things, a notebook and a pen. We use these often so be sure you have them with you (or any other notebook or pen!) during meetings.
7. Finally, parents and guardians are not allowed entry into meetings! You can check the blog for photos and a summary afterwards. The Petrosains Science Scouts meetings are only for Science Scouts!

First Senior Science Scouts Gathering
For SENIOR Science Scouts only, we have a special gathering this Saturday, March 6, from 10am - 1pm. We have lots to brief and prepare for before we kickstart Troop 4 and we want you to be involved! Let us know if you're able to make it.
March Challenge!
Congratulations to Science Scout Nik Nur Liyana on successfully completing the February Challenge! She has earned an 'Investigating Living Things' badge.
For March, your challenge is:
Come up with a title and design for a new Petrosains Science Scouts badge! The badge could be an award or recognition badge, or perhaps a badge for a whole new purpose! Challenge Badge Master Ash and show us what you can come up with!
Be sure to tell us why we should choose your badge! Really great ones will be made and added to our Badge collection (and you'll get one too!).
You can submit this to us on March 27 on our ALL TROOP meeting or send it to us via email.
